Nusa Ceningan – Le Pirate Beach Club : Stylish Beach Box With A Taste of Santorini

Having sacrificed our complimentary hotel breakfast in order to fully utilised our time in exploring Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan, we were feeling hungry as we left Blue Lagoon and Mahana Point. Remembering that we passed by a whole stretch of warungs, cafés and restaurants along the main beach near the Yellow Beach, we decided to stop by whichever was opened on our way back. And the first one we saw turned out to be this really chic place - Le Pirate Beach Club.

With four different destinations across Indonesia: Nusa CeninganGili TrawanganLabuan Bajo and Flores, Le Pirate Beach Club has made a name for itself, for its iconic instagrammable turquoise and white beach boxes. I’ve only read and saw some photos about the one in Nusa Ceningan and little did I know that there are three other Le Pirate Beach Club all over Indonesia, with all four of them located in Indonesia’s best island destination. Who else here has always wanted to visited Flores and Labuan Bajo with a trip to the famous Komodo Island?

Aloha~!

Ring or no ring?
In Le Pirate Beach Nusa Ceningan, there are only 10 beach boxes, so it is almost always fully booked. A Beach Box sleeps 1-2 people while Bunk Bed fits up to 4 people, so the guests are guaranteed of some privacy as the resort isn’t overcrowded. Even with outside guests around, you’ll still feel like you have the place to yourself.

Loving the colour theme here

White beach boxes

I took a quick glance into one of the Beach Box which was opened, and the room is furnished with cotton-lined double bed, air conditioning, wall fan, power plugs and outdoor bathroom. The beautiful, clean, white walls lined with bright turquoise details made it up for the basic amenities.

Had a peep inside

Because we had breakfast here, I didn't feel too embarrassed to be wandering around and taking photos

Every corner of the place spells “insta-worthy”, and I was spoilt for photos opportunity. I was there for a quick brunch, but I couldn’t stop taking photos after photos. The colour theme of white, turquoise and blue coupled with the sunny weather somehow makes me think of Santorini. Ughhh… how do I wish to visit Greece right now.
This box has got the best location as it faces the pool and the sea

Small but beautiful

There’s a small infinity pool over the edge of the resort with a view of the beach and blue waters, and next to it is a bar hut. It’s a perfect setting for sunset, and I could really imagine myself relaxing by the pool in my favourite turquoise bikini (to match the resort theme colour), with a book in one hand and a cocktail in another. Perfect way to end the day.
Don't you love the pool?

As their pool is small, they only allowed up to 6 outside visitors in the pool during their busy times. And did I mention that a minimum spend of RP 150,000 is required for the use of the pool?

The resort doesn’t have an extensive menu which is great for someone like me who always have a hard time deciding what to eat. I had Dragon Bowl for breakfast which is a smoothie bowl with dragon fruits, bananas and lots granolas and yoghurt, but the taste was below average for its price. On the other hand, Terry had a sandwich and Kintamani coffee and again, they were nothing to write home about. After all, this place is not famous for its food but rather the chic beach huts, and we really did come for the ambiance rather than the food.

I couldn't remember the name of the sandwich we ordered

With our tummy filled, we decided to head back to our hotel for check out before leaving for Nusa Penida. But before that, there’s somewhere I wanted to stop by – swings!!!!

Room Rates

From SGD62 / RM186 / RP 650,000 per night for either the beach box (for 2 persons), or bunk beds (fits 4 persons). Rates includes breakfast. However, a minimum stay of 2 nights is required. Outside visitors can use the pool with a minimum of RP 150,000 but only up to 6 outside visitors allowed during their busy times.

How to get there

Le Pirate Beach Club lies in between Blue Lagoon and the Yellow Bridge which are both 5 minutes away.

If you’re travelling over from Bali, you’ll most likely arrive at Mushroom Beach ferry port in Nusa Lembongan. From here you can grab a scooter for around RP 70,000 per day. Nusa Ceningan is just across the Yellow Bridge which connects both islands. If you’re coming from Nusa Penida, you will also alight at the Yellow Bridge. There are scooters available for rent at the Yellow Bridge as well.

If riding a scooter isn’t your thing, you can barter with local motor taxi (or ojek as the Balinese called it) to take you around the two island. Coming in a big group? You can also hire a driver to drive you around for about RP 500,000 to RP 600,000. Staying in Bali but still want to do a day trip to Nusa Lembongan? Fret not, as there are also tour package available which includes return speedboat to Lembongan, driver and guide as well as hotel pick up and drop off. This can be easily arranged through your hotel in Bali.

As everywhere on Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan is reachable within a 30-minute drive, exploring the island with a scooter would be the most recommended option.

Epilogue

I’d probably missed the chance of staying here during my trip to Nusa Ceningan, but I was glad to have found out that they have 3 other hotels around Indonesia which I could still make a visit. I’d been to Gili Trawangan, so it’s very unlikely for me to revisit so soon but both Flores and Labuan Bajo are in my to-go list. Hopefully, I’ll step foot there soon. The only problem is that a minimum 2 nights stay is a must. So… anyone keen to sponsor me? *grin*
